Celebrate the Freedom to Read

bbw_mockingbird_lgWhat’s your favorite book? Chances are good that someone has tried to ban it. Celebrate YOUR freedom to read during Banned Books Week.  Several banned books are available in Waterfield’s collections.

There were 513 known attempts to remove books in 2008, and more than 10,300 attempts have been recorded since American Library Association’s Office  for Intellectual Freedom began compiling information on book challenges in 1990.

See the ALA Banned Books website for more info, as well as lists of banned and/or challenged books.
